Need advice lightening my bike_new member

Hi guys,

I have a Scott cr1 team issue (2006) that i love, I have been slowly
lighteneing the bike here and there and have hit a wall. I know that
obviously i can shave weight by switching to a lighter wheel set &
a lighter cassette but I will hold off on those for the time being.

Other than that what can i do to lighten the load a bit. Last week I
striped the bike down and recleared it 1. to get rid of the hideous yellow
decals that it had and second to fix lots of chipping in the carbons clear
coat.



This is what it looked like before the strip and refinish.

but about the group:

Should i tune what i have or switch to 7900 or what do you think? I really like the
shifting on the crankset.

Go for sram red, you should get a good deal on the older groupset, it's light and you can tune the crap out of it. Good luck

If front shifting is important I would stick with an all Shimano drivetrain........Dura Ace 7900 would be the best. I ride an Ultegra 6700 drivetrain and the front shifting is MUCH better than anything else I have ridden. It is worth the weight penalty to me at this point.

p.s. Artray makes a great point that SRAM Red is the lightest and arguably the most tuneable grouppo there is.......if you can make due with the slightly problematic front shifting that is the WW group of choice.
