Hi there, i`m a board member for several months but i usually tend to be active in german boards - light-bikes, mtb-news a.s.o

But nevertheless i want to show you my fleet of Speci bikes. It consists of 2 S-Works bikes, HT and Epic, and a "normal" Epic which is used by my wife. Basically i realized my dream of having HT and Epic, both nearly equally built. Same fork, same crankset...and as light as possible while doing a non-problem built. So i use to look for the bike weight but at the same time functionality is a must. Thats why i dont use such components as eggbeaters (just to give an example!) - if you`re using them just try the new xtr 980 pedals.

1) 2011 S-Works HT Custom
- 2011 E100
- 2011 S-Works Crankset
- FRM XX Chainrings 40/27
- Syntace F99 Ti
- Syntace Duraflite Carbon
- New Ultimate Seatpost
- MCFK seatpost collar
- Speedneedle
- XX front derailleur
- X.0 9sp rear derailleur
- X.0 twister
- XTR 970 cassette 11-32
- XX disc 160/140
- King/Kong & Podium & Cxray
- XTR 980 XC pedals

- Schwalbe XX-Light tubes
=> 8.1 kg incl. bottle cage & chain stay protector

2) 2011 S-Works Epic Custom
- 2011 E100

I like your S-works epic especially! But, what exactly don't you like about eggbeaters, they're a lot lighter than xtr shimanos? And, is that a speaker in the corner of the last picture? Because a speaker doesn't belong in a corner, never ever
Wish you many happy rides!

Yes, its a speaker. But i just directed the audio flow to my couch...i`m no audiophile person. As long as it sounds ok it is ok ;-)

Eggbeater - yes, they are working, for sure. BUT if you are using light versions you must check the ti-axle from time to time. And you have to be service them because the bearings donĀ“t last forever. And you are connected from shoe to pedal by a very small area. Please have a try - use a new pair of xtr xc pedals - it`s like having a new hobby. The power transmission is incomparable. Really unbelievable. Just try and feel it for yourself.

Besides eggbeater i tried ashima ultralight discs together with the xx disc caliper. Noisy, they rub - so i changed back to stock xx rotors. At my previous bike i uses a marta sl - no problems with ashima ultralights.

Bare walls, bare wood floors and a corner loaded tower? Yeah, I'd say that's obvious.

Back OT... Nice fleet.

nice rigs :D wishing on epic sworks one of these days. i agree with your principle of building light and functional bikes. i have a question regarding your wheels though. how are the podiums/tune holding up? i just had mine - podiums/king/sapim - on my team alite hardtail. they are light indeed. but did you have any problems?durability issues?

thanks! cheers :)

Thanks. But during the last weeks i have sold the Stumpy HT because i only rode the epic. My LBS was right when they told me that there is no need for such a HT if you own a 9 kg epic.

My new wheelset with the 2012 Tune hubs is flawless. The older rear hub was creaking, tune replaced parts of it.

Spokes and wheels - no problems with those.
