What acronyms do I have to look out for compatability of a lightweight BB and my XT crankset?

Also any suggestions? (I'm happy to pay upto £100 UK)

I ride XC and weight 175lbs (12.5 stone - I assume there are 16 lbs in a stone). My conversions are poor.

14lbs in a stone but it still equals 12.5.

So how did you get 175 divided by 16 to equal 12.5??

If it's the octalink-version you got a problem... I've never seen another octalink bb besides Shimano and some special versions for Klein/Storck bikes without BSA.

Sounds like Shimano have it stitched up - MONOPOLY!!!

If I were to switch for a whole new set of both cranks and rings and BB - What would you suggest?

I would go for a light ISIS bb and cranks, e.g. FSA Carbon Pro, FRM CU, Storck Carbon or Extralite E-Bones cranks with an heylight or FRM ISIS bb OR the new Tune Big Foot with Tune Sixpack bb.

If this is all too expensive: FSA Afterburner ISIS cranks with some light crank bolts (they come with self extracting steel bolts, 40g/pair, Extralite crank bolts or similar ones are 15g/pair) ist stiffer than Shimano XT and more or less the same prize and weight (620g w/out bolts), but you can save over 100g at the bb.

Stick with the XT Octalink, they are proving to outlast the ISIS BBs.

Haha. dont give them the dice or you will end up paying tax

Octalink? what the heck? heavy BB and not quite smooth . I just hate them. Feel like drilling them into pieces.
