For comparison purposes my X0 9 speed grip shifter is 87g (no cable), although the Shimano grip shift (8speed) on my wifes bike are an even more svelte 68g! Triggers just can't get close, also remember you'll be losing around 3g off any grip (unless you are using bar tape).

I would **only** be interested in this if I could but the triggers and GS separately for 2x10 and run the GS for the front and trigger for the rear. Anyone know if this is a possibility?

Why wouldn't it be, the front and rear gearing is totally independant of each other in operation, so yes, twister on the left for front and trigger on the right for rear will work fine.

I meant for purchase separately. Like buy a front GS and a rear trigger without having to buy pairs of both

Probably not 'officially' but sellers have been splitting trigger sets for a long time.....

I while back I thought of running the 3x grip shift for the FD and a trigger for the RD. I like the idea of being able to trim the FD if things get out of whack during a race. I also kept getting accidental chainring shifts with the triggers. Eventually went all in with the grip shift.

However, with the new 2x10 grip shifters, the front shifter can't be trimmed like the 3x. That might alter the calculations of the grip/trigger split riders. That is unless acheiving some weight loss but retaining the trigger action for rear is the plan.

You don't need trim with XX. You can use any gear combination on a properly adjusted bike with XX on it. That's how it was designed.
