Spec M5 '04 Frame - HT (1493g)
Thompson Elite post (250g)
Sellia Italia gel trans am saddle (259g)
EA50 Stem (175g)
EC70 Bar (125g)
XT Shifters (still with pods) (282g)
Hope mini's (760g)
RC31 ridgid forks (661g)
XT hubs / DT rev spokes / X517 rims (1756g)
Panaracer Fire XC Pro tyres 2.1 (1160g)
Maxxiss flylight tubes (90g each)
Hope ti QR's (90g)
'03 XT Hollowtech Crankset (622g)
XT BB (249g)
M959 Peddles (345g))
XT chain (298g)
'03 XTR rear derailler (198g)
XT cassette (265g)
I use the bike for 22 mile a day road commute. 25% of the time I ride a mixture of off-road and road. No real huge hills. For commuting I use Panaracer Passella road tyres.
At weekends I ride off road XC. Looking to get the weight down with £500 to spend.
My immediate thoughts are:
AX Lightness Endurance Saddle (£??)
USE Alien Carbon Post (£65)
DT hugi / DT Rev spokes / X317 Rims Wheelset (£285)
Narrower and lighter tyres

try the schwalbe tires!
For the AX saddle check ebay regularly. It's very expensive when bought new.

No better give all the money me! I know how to spend it!

Light weight everything!
if you're looking for bang-for-buck, get a lighter cassette, like XTR, you picked some of the most expensive (albeit cool) upgrades.
oh, what ebay do you suggest searchign for AX lightness saddles? Ebay.de? cause the US one is a no show.

Once in a blue moon do you see AX on German ebay.
Why not settle for a Tune Speedneedle at 87g and half the cost?

Yes, I'd buy a Speedneedle, the wheelset, lighter tires, a lighter post, a lighter stem (Syntace F99). 500,- should be enough for all that. Weight saving (depends on tires, with 900g/pair): >700g.
