V-brake for race. Never felt i needed disc for all the races i did here in colorado.
Depends on where you live i guess.
Disc would be nice for a trail bike and for general riding thou.

Well, here in Holland a v brake is perfect. even for the trips to belgium (Houffalize). My opinion is that the disc is a pure commercial step. It does look good on a bike, so many people are willing to put some money in it.
Only donhillers and freeriders will benefit from the added extra you will get when you ride with discs.

For Ohio, US, discs are NICE!! they dont get gunked up in all of the crap I ride in here! Lots of rain = non-rolling wheels due to the tire sticking in the brake-arms. Oh yeah, we have more rivers that are considered trails than anywhere else in the world!
