Anyone using the Bont MTB 1's ? If so what experiances / feedback?
300gms, fullcarbon sole, heat moldable, Custom options, etc etc etc.

I have run the A-one road shoes (gen 1 and gen 2, they are now on gen 3), for a few years and have just destroyed some Dominators (again)... So I am looking at these.....

Well iv gone for the Gaerne Wallaby plus......

I still have not been able to find, local or on the net, the new style specialized s-works mtn shoe. If I can get my LBS to order them I would.

I'm also thinking of some light MTB shoes to go with my WW eggbeaters.
Advice appreciated.

I use and I would recommend Bont MTB shoes.
Very, very stiff, stable, strong & comfy in a rugged sorta way.
Note: Wideish foot / toebox and wacked up sizing - I had to go down to a 41(uk8) from a 42 2/3 (8.5) in Mavic.

I just picked up a pair of mavic razors for $90, white & black. looks like a one-off deal though. compares v similar in weight to the Fury's -the best deal I found for them was $199.
I notice that Jenson has a bunch of LAKE MX 235C's at $108.

Ok fella's i mentioned the Bont's and now i have some (thankyou hot santa....)
Here's my feedbak;-
I run 44 Bont A-one road shoes....sweet fit mouded etc etc
I ordered 44 MTB1's... too small despite same sock thicknessa s road shoes... bugger
I upsized to 45 (4mm longer) and they are spot on.
Bont were legends here shipping out over night right before xmas as i had a race on boxing day.. legends..
First off the finish quality of the latest shoes relative to the early ones is leaps and bounds better... no glue smears, alignment is better no gaps in adhseion of the upper to the sole etc, no fraying of the velco tabs... Basically up tp par with everyone else... Good job iproving Bont.
I moulded them as per my road shoes and inserted moulding shim to account for my flatter foot.. (trimmed insole jammed down the foot arch to make a bigger gap). Remember as you pedal the muscles in your foot work and take adifferent shape to static, so to mould too close with static foot can introduce some pressure points....
All good. Fit sorted, now for a ride....
Light stiff direct and provide more feedback through your feet as to what the trail is doing.. nice....
Great power transfer too... more immediate feeling..... liking these...easy engage and disengage, tread block hieght works a treat with egg beaters....
Post ride lets take a look at them... sole has some scuffs in the carbon, couple of scuffs on the upper.. (hmm maybe a little soft??0 time will tell).
Due to the carbon sole wrapping up aropund the side of the foot water get trapped int he shoes (samas road shoe) the drill will be coming out to create a drain hole.
Only Gripe, the adhesive Bont use int he factory for the tread blocks is unsuitable to maintain adhesion in use. you have to get some contact adhesive, rub down the sole to key the carbon surface and buff the tread block, and re-gue them all... this is the same issue as the road shoes but mor eimportant off raod as the tread is used, unlike the road shoe.
So all in all, get em, but be prepared to carry out a few tweaks if you are particular about your kit...
And a huge thank you to Bont for responding to an urgent supply at the worst possible tie, and for listening to constructive improvement feedback an building it into their shoes... (see Gen 3 A- One road shoes... many improvments...)

I find that the Fury's and Specialized fit similar. Maybe the Fury is a tad bit wider in the toe box but nothing the bottom strap can't fix.
But this is comparing the Fury to the S-Works road shoe. I'm sure the last is the same though.
