999g for a 29" wheelset seems to be the limit at the moment

Grigiocarbonio Hardwheel RS-L T1000 carbon fiber rims with 26 mm inner channel, Extralite Hyperhubs, and Alpina Hyperlite spokes

When you're talking 300-330g clincher 29er rims, the tire weight becomes much more important than a few grams on the rim.
Yeah, but terrain pretty much dictates tires. You can't skimp much without drastically increasing your odds of flatting. I own some WW tires (Thunder Burts) but rarely use them. I once flatted them on a dirt road, though the cut could have happened earlier on a rocky trail. I usually accept the weight penalty of 2.25 Exo Aspens. My 1139g wheels ease the pain.

About 50g lighter with Berd Polylight spokes.

Will have to wait and see on those compared to say older style Ti ones. weight vs flex etc. Would prefer a colour choice other than white as well and can see them being a lot more $$ than Ti, like the cost comparison of Ti cables vs powercordz.

I have 354g carbon rims 29er 30mm wide, on there way 24H drilling with CX-rays and Carbon Ti hubs weight should be about 1250g. Lighter is possible but the LB flyweight rims are narrower.

I think i will use the IRC Serrac XC tubeless tyre 29x2.1" which is about 530g.

That is light enough for me.

Just so folks know, there's a separate thread on Berd spokes:
