A quick update on my bike good and bad new.

Good news first, I have removed the heavy ass Pauls Melvin chain tensioner from my bike and replaced it with a Spicer Cycles half link chain link.

Seams to be running quite smooth so far...fingers crossed!

Not to mention I lost some weight from removing the tensioner and reducing the chain length...and in my excitement of installing it all forgot to weigh the chain and the link so at the weekend I'll have a chance to get the weights and see where my bike stands...I'm thinking around 14.5lbs ?

And the bad news, my new Egg beaters have developed bushing play on the right hand pedal after only 150ish miles of mostly dry weather use.

So I'm sending them off next week for Crank Bros. to refurbish the pedal hopefully it will be a quick turn around.

Pic below of the half link and an updated shot of my drivetrain.

What about the Al-rotors, any problems there? What's the weight saving there?

No problems with the Al-rotors so far, I don't think they bite aswell as the standard rotors but they are good enough for me.

Some small squealing when the pads were settling in but other than that they are fine now.

Formula 160mm disc weighs 110g

Stans Al 160mm rotor weighs 53g

You can see a couple of weights I took on Anders site:

Nikh-

Hey man, its great having someone else intested in SS, Your bike is serving for a lot of inspiration for my SS.

Hey, your boone rear cog, hows that attached? Is it a single cog with spacers or is it somekind of freewheel? How expensive was it, it looks awesome!

Cheers for the compliments.

The first Boone cog I had was without a thick spline (if thats the right word?!) and was a lot narrower than the King cog equivalent.
So the phase two version had a wider spline as shown in the pics I have attached.
Brett also supplies spacers to match.
The cog cost something like 2$ or $2.50 per tooth I can't remember which!
The phase one weighed in at 16g for a 17T the new one phase 2 weighs in at 27g (because of the wider base) for reference a King Kog weighs 34g.

Below is a link to a pic of the Boone ti cog - either side of the base before it is pressed onto the cog itself.
