I've had both Shimano HG-93 and SRAM PC-99 chains on my bike with no problems apart from the eventual and inevitable wear, but when I decided to change to a Connex 920 chain I've been getting really bad chainsuck on my small (most people's middle) ring. It's not that it falls off, it just continues round and jams between it and the frame. The only other time I've seen something similar is with a poorly-lubed chain at the end of a muddy race. And yes, I have lubed the chain.
This is really irritating, to say the least. Is it just that the chain and chainrings are incompatible? I've heard of that being true, but always doubted it.
I have:
Extralite Octaramp 30T inner
TA 42T outer
XTR 11-34 cassette
Connex 920 chain
XTR 952 SGS RD, XT 760 FD

How badly was the chain and cass worn? Have you checked that your chainring is not hooked?

Yup, sounds like the inner ring is worn.

The old chain was a bit stretched, but no visible wear on the cassette. The ring is a bit worn, but not a whole lot. As far as I can see it's not hooked, which is why it perplexes me. I'll look into it a bit more tomorrow.
