I've always wanted to own a pair of Oakley Juliets. But it's so damn expensive. What others do you guys use? Recommendations please.

I use different pairs of glasses. A total clear lensed one, a Briko Flip with orange lenses and a Cebe Rush for all the sunny rides!

I'd say oakly is fairly overpriced!

Cebe offers exact the same quality at at least half the price!

I use either Oakley Racing or Rudy Projects Ekynox for riding.

I like Oakley's lenses (which is what you are paying for the glasses) other than any sunglasses out there. Though it's expensive, you will get what you paid for.

As for the Rudy Projects, lenses are nice too, plus you can buy extra lenses to suit the weather and your style. Also their lense scratch warranty is very good.

I drop them and lose them so often that I ride with cheap sunglasses.
I have both a yellow and dark lense pair (not that the yellow lense pair gets much use in the Australian climate).

I'm curious, how do you lose them?

If I knew that I'd go back and collect them, I think I put them down or drop them, sometimes out of my jersey pocket. They get scratched when I drop them anyway so it's good when I get to replace them.

I think the times people lose glasses are when they're not on the face. I've lost 1 Adidas, 2 Armanis and an Oakley Romeo. The oakleys were the worst, lost them after 2 months.... sigh.. in a cab. Only consolation, they were a used pair.

Rudy Project Exynox. Interchangable lenses and nice wraparound. I get a Pro deal on them though. I'm not sure I would pay retail for them.

I actully get pro deal on Axley's (used by pantani, noe, baldato etc...) but never bought a pair. Probably won't buy one until my trusty Smith dies, which survived countless crash and running over by me with my bike.

Oakley, hands down! IMHO they're the real deal when it comes to eye protection and optical quality. I would never use anything else.

To answer the original question I believe that the Juliett (and the Penny) are too heavy for mountainbiking. In my experience, with my Penny's, they slide around and have once "jumped off" on a downhill section. The dedicated Oakley sports frames like Half Jackets, M-frames etc. are much better suited for this applications. Also you get the added benefit of interchangeable lenses for different light conditions.
