I currently run a 70mm Thomson X4 stem on my rigid 29er and was thinking of switching to a "road" stem to save some weight (and improve aesthetics). I know that Easton's alloy road stems are rated for "XC-style" riding, but what about something like a Kalloy Uno?

Kalloy Uno work fine for me, mine is a 100mm FS XC bike and I run a 70mm Kalloy Uno (with Ti bolts it's 88g), it's been on for two years and does fairly aggresive trail riding without issue.

I run Kalloy Uno on all my bikes, including 26" XC hardtail. Got a 60mm long one for a new XC full suspension build too, paired with Ti bolts the value is arguably hard to beat. No issues during last three years so far.

Kalloy Uno is pretty amazing for the price. I have heard nothing but great review about them, for the money its hard to beat.

the only thing i didn't really like is the 2-piece front plates. its just my preference but i prefer a 1-piece. I ended up with a Raceface Turbine and I really like it.

Be careful with 3T. There a lot of counterfeit 3T stuff out there. Buy from reputable sources only.
