I found out I don't know much about light weight XC MTB wheelset, but I am in the market for them. :)

I am looking for a set of alloy (mostly because of cost) XC MTB wheels (15mm TA front, 135mm QR rear), I am under 180lb all geared up, and ride XC (29er carbon HT), no drop offs more than 1 foot. I am looking for rim width > 19mm to mount tires < 2.35" (Giant XTC composite 29er, seems to be the limitation from frame)

I only know of wheels like XTR or Crossmax, they may be good but they are not cheap. What's the other options out there?

BOR rims seem to be very popular around here, lace them to some light hubs and you are set

Budget is your biggest constraint, can you stretch to Extralite or Tune hubs? Some serious weight savings can be made

American Classic Race 29er wheel set is a winner and gets great reviews. 1450 grams, 32 spoke, and 24 internal width.
