So I recently converted my stock FSI-1 alloy to 1x with a 34T absolute black oval ring. I was sure the 34x36 would be too big and I'd make the easy swap to 11 speed XT. As it turns out I'm more than happy with my low gear so I don't really feel the need to go to 11 speed with the large heavy cassettes. Well I've already got the money set aside so what is my best bet to shave weight keeping the 11-36 size cassette.

:noidea:

Current Setup:
Shifter: Shimano SLX w/ I-Spec
RD: Shimano XT, Shadow Plus, 10-speed
Cassette: Shimano HG-50, 11-36, 10-speed (super heavy)
Chain: Shimano HG50, 10-speed

Sram XX 11-36 would be your best bet. a little over 200g and is still pretty reliable

Biggest hit is in the cassette as nick says.

Some scope in the shifter and mech but probably only 20-25g in each (going XTR or XX/0) which probably isn't worthwhile until they break.

Small scope in the chain if you go hollow pin/cut out sideplates, again I'd just wait until it needs changing, 11 speed chain drops a bit of weight and some prefer the shift feel.
Impoverished weight weenie wanna-be!

The KCNC cassette is light and $$. Would personally not spend that kind of coin on a disposable part, but you said lightest ...

yeah I think the XX cassette is the lightest sensible option, hopefully I can scoop one up on ebay. Are there any light 11 speed steel cassettes being made or is EVERYTHING 11-40 and up?

Recon has a 150gr 11-36. It's made of aluminum...so not too sure about durability.

1099 XX casette is 206g
1199 XX1 casette is 268g

The X0 driver is usually lighter than most 10s MTB freehubs.

Removes the weight problem going to 11s [emoji14]

For a MTB freehub the smallest 11 speed cassette you can get is 11-40. The reason is the 11th cog need to be this size to hang over the spokes.
The only way to get an 11 speed smaller cassette is to go with a road hub with an 11 speed frehub. This gets you a maximum sized cassette of a 11-32.

10-32 or 10-36 in an XO driver would be great if SRAM would actually do it.

I fear your're right.

SRAM doesn't let anyone else make XD cassetes, only freehubs, right?
