I'm planning to build new wheels for my 29er xc bike. Rims will be nextie carbon rims and spokes dt supercomp or sapim cx-ray. I run rock shox rs-1 in front and rear axle is 142x12. What do you recommend for hubs? Tune, dt240s, sram or something else? Looking for something light, good engagement and durable.

I'd say go DT if you want reliable. I ordered straight pull Prince/Princess and they have been on back order for about 7 weeks now.

Yes dt might be very obvious choice. What about sram hubs? Decent weight, machine bearings, 52t freehub and little bit lower price than dt. Seems like a good deal but I don't have any experience with sram hubs.

I always go for straight pull. Is that an option with the sram hubs?

Not to be OT from OP but I needed a rear 142x12 that could take a road 11sp cassette so Extralite wasn't an option. I do have their Cyber SPD hubs on my road bike and they are excellent and crazy light so I would definitely recommend them.

Extralites are bit pricey...

Carbon ti predictive steering hubs are not real torqure tube hubs. Just different end caps compared to normal 15mm qr hub so you don't get that torque tube benefit and stiffness with carbon ti hub. Thats why it is out.

I have decided to buy tune king ps and kong 142x12 hubs. Now I'm just considering 28 vs 32 holes and 2x vs 3x lacing. I'm going to use carbon rims and that's why 28 holes should be enough. I have been building only 32 hole 3x lacing wheels so I'm just a bit suspicious about 28 holes and 2x lacing. What do you think is it enough for xc riding?

32h and brass nips. Should you hapen to pop a spoke they will hold up better.

Got my king kong hubs now and d-light spokes with 14mm brass nipples. Hubs were few grams over claimed weight.
