m8000 xt chainrings compatible with m9000 crank??

Hi WW,

Are the cheaper XT M8000 chainrings compatible with m9000 cranks? I know Shimano say officially no, but aren't they the same BCD...?

They will fit if you figure out the different chainring bolt lengths. The chainline will move inboard by around 2mm.

Nope. Made this mistake last week. M8000 chain rings won't fit M9000 cranks.
