Are you sure that you're not comparing against the old race x2 rotor?
Here are the new ones 160mm in Orange. The weight gain compare the old model is really big. 2pcs on the scale.

I emailed Hope a few months ago as I couldnt find any of the lighter X2 rotors for sale & was told they've stopped making them.

Nope. they definitely are much heavier.
Hope SAW are my No. 1 choice as it is the best compromise between weight and importantly stopping power. Lighter rotors end up with less metal in the braking surface and either don't stop so well or judder when brakes are applied due to the gaps.
The next best "floating" rotors are these; Deckas brand; a couple grammes heavier, a lot cheaper and almost as good regards to stopping.
