Is boost 110/148 really that good?

I just reached out to a builder for a custom rigid 29er.
He advised that I go with 15mm Thru Axle and Boost spacing.
I was kind of concerned about hub availability, but it looks like most brands have boost options.
I'm looking at the Tune hubs, laces to MCFK rims or Enve M60 rims.
Glad I did a search on this, to ease my stress levels over boost spacing.

Plenty of wheels out there. I'm running the Bontrager kovee pro carbon wheels on my topfuel 9.8sl. Been beating the hell out of them with no issues so far. Not the fastest engagement but they are stiff and track well. Plus with a boost frame you get a slightly shorter wheelbase making the 29er a little more nimble. Road bikes I'm more traditional. Mountain not so much. Mountain bike technology in most cases really is an improvement. Road disc on the other hand.....

However, in the future, 148 mm will become a general standard

Many reasons, but kind of making blue ocean for makers? like 29 or 27.5....

If you can choose, buy a bike with 110/148. Not necessarily because it's that much better, but because it's the latest standard so if you for example would like to upgrade your wheels after two years it'll be easier for you.

Alternately, if you have 6 bolt hubs, you can buy $30 conversion kits to go from 100 to 110 and 142 to 148.

I solved the "issue" by using rims with 3mm offset (asymmetric) spoke holes. Same spoke angles as boost. No weight penalty.
