Racer X Rear Shock Question

Hi - I have a Racer X100 vintage bike project. Thinking about using the same eye to eye (7.875") shock but the new one has 2.25" stroke vs 2" stock stroke.

Anyone have issues with this? Do I risk damaging the frame?

Take the shock out and see what will happen at full bump with the longer stroke shock, sometimes it will be fine, sometimes the tyre will hit the frame (seat tube) sometimes the moving suspension may hit something, easy enough test!
