Why Not Carbon Fiber Thru-Axles?

Don't know of anyone doing this...yet. Why not? Seems like it would be relatively simple and at least 1/2 the weight of the lightest metal version?

I can see the carbon tube just like a fork steerer as the thru axle. One end can be moulded with continuous fibers as the stop. The other end can have an aluminum threaded insert epoxied inside. Why not?

Both Tune, POP and ShiftUp do carbon TA.
