Will this work? XTRM9000 shifter+ Rear Der on 10 speed XX 11-36T Cassette?
I am thinking it might since the XTR cassette hangs the 11th cog out over the hub body/close to the spokes?
Anyone try this?
I will be using an XTRM9000 clutch rear der + NW 32T front ring

I believe I have answered my own question - will know next week though.
Cog pitch Shimano/SRAM 11 speed MTB - 3.9
Cog pitch Shimano/SRAM 10speed MTB - 3.95

Why are you looking for a such strange combos? Sell your XX cassette and get 11sp XT or XTR.
On the topic -- you may get it work for a part of range.

This is weight weenies so:
11-40T XTR cogset = 328g
vs
XX 10s 11-36T = 210g
will gain me quite a bit of weight
10 cogs = 9 shifts to the 11T cog from the 36T cog
The difference in tolerance stacked is 9 shifts x .05 = .45mm
I think this will work
Is my math wrong here?
The only other reason to change to 11-40T is to get lower gear range. However, I used to ride 28x28T granny so 32x36T is actually lower

Why not some road cassette then? Sram Red has 11-32 versions which looks relevant for MTB use. 11-25 version weights about 150 g.
You may save ever more using DuraAce instead of XTR at rear.

Thanks But if my 11-36T 10S works, I will stay with that

From my understanding, the shimano road and mtb 11spd cassettes are different widths. MTB is still the same as 10spd.

They are different widths on the freehub. You can use an 11s mtb cassette on a 10spd freehub, because the large outer cog clears the spokes even being .85mm further over.
If you want to use a shimano 11s mtb cassette on a 11s hub, just use the .85mm adapter like you would for a 10s cassette. The spacing between the cogs on the spider is the same as road.
