Sram 9sp shifter + Sram 9sp RD + 10sp cassette?
Moderator: Moderator Team
I presume this is possible with a modified replacement cable guide.
Could anyone point me to a photo of this problem solved? The parallelogram must move about 4mm per shift compared to the stock 4.35mm per shift, for it to work. I will figure it out myself if it hasn't been done before, but I'm betting it has since I've seen various similar combinations.
Thanks!

You have nine index points in the shifter, modifying the RD won't give you an extra click. The 9spd RD should work with a 10spd cassette and shifter. You can still set it up so the lowest gear you have is ~13T (depends on your cassette), so effectively making it 9spd

Or you could acquire a suitably modified twist shifter for 10 speed operation. Fantic26 on ebay sells them. I have bought one in the past, and have since switched to one similarly modified to operate a 2011 XTR RD.

I've been running this setup for years.

Just google fantic26. There's a website as well as an ebay shop.
They're not exactly cheap, but there are a number of options. 10s shifters for SRAM 9s or 10s RD's. Shifters for Shimano 10s road (which work with their 9s MTB RD's) as well as shifters for Dyna-sys RD's.
If you're just after a 10 speed conversion for SRAM 9s shifters and derailleurs and you're handy with a bit of DIY, this could be an option too:

No experience with it, but it's a replacement ratchet for 9s grip shift. Seems like it would be a fairly easy mod and very cheap way to add the extra cog.

Thanks I'd found his ebay store but there was nothing like this in there.
