Yup, but paying 75€ for half a kg of rubbish is everything but attractive.

We're talking here about adding 250g to the rear wheel without improving structural strength or puncture resistance, c'mon!

I can see it becoming popular (not on these forums :D), as already mentioned it will fit regular freehubs, and it'll be a cheap conversion to 11-speed. But I really think both Shimano and SRAM messed up... SRAM for not making a cheaper alternative to XX1 (X1 wasn't exactly cheap), and Shimano for not making the XTR cassette lighter.

Hoping that the 11-42 XTR cassette is right around the corner and I can use the XT for training and the XTR for races....

Later this month in EU, no? Its up on a few of the usual suspect websites but either "out of stock" or "unavailable."

might as well go for praxxis works 11-40 10 speed and keep the original kit. Ridiculous weight for both XT and XTR cassettes.

Going to do a Starbike order as well!

Still disappointed about the weights- it seems each generation of Shimano mtb is getting heavier! For instance the RD has gone from 258g to 275g....

Hey guys regarding the M8000 shifters- does anyone know whether the rear shifter performs in a similar way to 10-speed XTR/Saint? Specifically can you upshift 3-4 gears (easier gears) & downshift 2x gears (harder gears) like you can with XTR M980? The 2x downshift feature I find really great for 1x10/1x11.
If not possible I guess I'll have to upgrade to SL-M9000 XTR shifter... :)

Thanks!

I realise that this is weight weenies, but surely xt is more workhorse than race?! I'll happily be buying xt 1x11 ASAP for my trail/winter hardtail and have xtr on my summer/race bike. If you're so concerned about the cassette weights then buy something super light and boutique or go for the scram option.
I thought the main reason for buying shimano was because it works beautifully, is robust and a sensible price.
