Hi all,

I just thought I would share this as there aren't a great deal of nice, light, good value -17 degree stems around. The choice for those riding 29ers and looking for a low front end seemed to be between KCNC Arrow (125g in 90mm, £59) or Extralite (75g EUR190, but only -12 degree). All of the other -17 stems I could find, including "road" stems, don't seem to get much lighter than the KCNC arrow even for a lot extra pennies.

Anyway I stumbled across the Lyti -17 stem through Dulight.fr. I've bought a 90mm one to give a go and first impressions are that it seems very well made and has a really nice metallic/ CNC black sheen finish (not your typical gloss or matt finish- hard to explain or show in the pictures).

Key things: 90mm = 92g for EUR40!

The only downside I can see are the M4 bolts (steel) but it seems to work for Ritchey and Extralite so I am not too worried

I did see some 70 and 80mm 3T Arx Pro -17 go for 40 USD.

3T is what, 125g for 90mm? Kind of the same as the KCNC Arrow.

Do you have a link to the -17 Uno Chris? It is always good to keep on top of light, good value parts :D

I can't see this Lyti stem being sold elsewhere Stuka as it looks like it is Dulight's "house brand", a little like Mt Zoom being sold through XCracer/ Ant White. I'd be surprised if they designed the stem from scratch so it may exist under another manufacturer or an older design from another manufacturer perhaps???

I picked up a -17 stem /120mm for £20 posted off ali express .

It's a carbon stem with alloy face plate. The stem without alloy face plate weighs 89grns which I was going to make a combo with but it was to fat looking for my taste.

Yep, Syntace make very nice stems. 111g for the 90mm version but EUR115 so not as great on the value side of things as some of the other options. Still great stems though!

How about a +/- 25º stem?

Apart from the ritchey c260, what other options exist, light and cheap?

Not sure about light or cheap...but Syntace and FSA have a -20 stem.

I think the Syntace Flat force is excellent if you want/need more than a -17deg. Steeper than that on a traditional stem and you run the risk of having the stem hit the header top bearing cover.

You can run into this problem with a -17 stem on certain bikes.

Quick update as a forum member enquired...

Stem is everything you could hope for- fit and forget. No stiffness problems, no creaks... just a great, light, super value stem. 92g for 90mm -17 as above. Overall, very happy.

Here it is mounted:
