DT Swiss XMM 29 120 - Measures 140mm
Moderator: Moderator Team
So, I just bought a DT Swiss XMM 29 120mm fork off eBay. Came in the box, and still had all of the original documentation in it.
But here's the thing - from the seals to the crown, the stanchions measure slightly more than 140mm.
I'm not complaining, per se; the frame I'm going to use is a 120mm carbon FS.
However, has anyone seen this before? There is no XMM 29 130 or 140 fork listed on DT Swiss' website.

My older XRC 100 measures 110mm and newer 117mm from the seals to the crown.
Might be the sag that's taken into account?
Chris.

Yes I guess get the air pressure right for you first and brake the fork in after a few rides.

Let all the air out and see how far you can compress it. If it does indeed travel 140 then you somehow have a 140 travel fork (maybe an employee sold you a prototype). My guess is that it won't go full stroke and that DT is using parts that can later be used to make a 140 fork to simplify manufacturing and inventory. They can do this by using long tubes on the top and making the lowers such that there is not enough room to take the whole tube. Later they can make a longer lower part and get a 140 fork. The disadvantage of dong it this way is that the fork will be 20mm taller than it has to be.
For certain parts stiffer is more important than lighter.
So 130 of travel?
