The 80mm 6 degree Ritchey C260 is 96g for $78. Seems like a pretty good stem to me.

^ Lyti 90mm -17 is 92g (real) for EUR40. Lots of other good suggestions for light, cheap stems on a recent thread here on WW. It is still good to see Extralite pushing the boundaries though

Any bar slippage? I am thinking of buying one, but kinda afraid of bar slippage (Had one issue with one old Roadstem Ul3 (but that may be due to non original bolts), but I also have read this review:

Hey Dream Bikes.......do the Extralite bar clamps kit for Ultrastem that you sell also fit the Hyperstem?

also see:
https://fairwheelbikes.com/c/reviews-an ... em-review/
for how the Hyperstem stacks up in stiffness to weight.

Does anybody buy into Extralite's claim that 25.4mm handlebars/stem combos can appreciably stiffer than 31.8mm over-sized combos?

I love my 25.4 Ultrastem on my 26" full squish, but just ordered a 31.8 Hyperstem for my new 29er build.

I guess you should contact extralite in terms of compability.
About the stiffness, all is explained here: http://www.extralite.com/Products/handl ... andard.htm
But maybe 31.8 will be stiff enough for you. For me it is.
When you receive the hyperstem, post your opinion =)

Hi.

Thinking in going the extralite route because the WCS c260 is already very light. It's for a XC rig so i hope it' stiff and reliable enough...

+1 on the -17 degree Lyti stem, cheap , reliable and light, altought the glossy back looks awful I had it painted black matt.

That doesnt mean I would like to try an extralite, but -12 degrees is not enough for a 29er or an aggressive road bike position

Unfortunately not, Hyperstem clamps are a little smaller, so my custom color ones fit only Ultrastem, Ultrastem OC, Roadstem and Roadstem OC stems
