What do you guys think is better. Is the magic scandium more durable then th columbus starship tubing? I'm 78 k. I really have my doubts about scandium at my weight.

Thanks

Why do you have doubts about scandium?

At your weight there is no worries.

Extralite have a scandium frame and they put no weight limit on the rider.

Let me guess..... the RC1 ultra?!?

Well, i can get a no-name-frame at my lbs made of starship. This will be cheaper then Sc.
The thing i'm worried about is the durability of sc. How will it hold up in lets say 5 years. Or in every day use?

See Santa Cruz is making a Scandium Single speed frame. Guess they think it is strong enough.

I have a scandium 'cross VooDoo that's going on four years old.I use it as my road bike and ride it in the trails. It's fine no problems at all.
I wouldn't worry about scandium. What brand we're you thinking about getting?

I had a be one made of starship.
It was light but stiffness was very poor.

It felt like my rearwheel was sweeping out in every corner!

the stiffness of scandium is much better.

Well, i don't have the cash yet, but i do like the appearance of scott. I really love the way they combined the seatstays. Are there any other optoins?

Frankie,

For scandium frames check out Salsa and Ghost they are a lot more affordable but slightly heavier than the Scott or Extralite.

P.S. I love this photo does anyone know where this is, I presume its in Germany.

yes, the ghost frames are an absolute bargain ...i would buy an HTX Scandium in an instant if i lived over in Europe ...570 euros? ...that's like $950 CAD ...here a Rocky Vertex Sc will sell for more than twice that and is probably a tad heavier too

yea i think the Salsa Bandito may in fact be the best deal for a scandium hardtail ....i remember a while back i could have won a brand new one on ebay for about $400 USD ...that's like just over $500 CAD!

i just don't care for the name  ...can i just have one in bare metal so i can clearcoat it and ride the mystery bike..
