Hi WW,

I've always been interested in the DT Swiss XRC carbon fork as it is the lightest possible suspension fork (excluding exotic or Leftie). It also just looks cool...

But it seems they are only available in 26 inch, and I haven't seen any information on a 27.5 or 29er size. I recall Nino was using a prototype 27.5 XRC fork, however he is now using a standard alloy DT Swiss fork.

So does this mean the XRC fork will be retired in the near future??

I expect the XRC will dissapear in the 2016 line-up (if not in the 2015 line-up). DT stated in an magazine article in May 2013, that the moulds for the carbon lowers were extortionately expensive and also that they don;t react to heat build-up very well (whereas the Mag lowers can).

Thanks for the response. Makes sense what you are saying... a real shame!
Imagine a 27.5 XRC fork with 15mm TA weighing around 1200grams-that would be awesome!

I think they will (or should!) come out with a lightweight fork for both 27.5 and 29 inch wheels. Current 29'' forks are not that light, but one of the lightest out there.

Current 26'' xrc forks fit a 27.5 wheel with most 2.1'' tires, but mud complicates things.

Chris.

^ glad to hear I'm not the only one who thinks this!
I guess a 27.5 tyre (just) fits in a XRC fork but it's a bit of a compromise.
