is there any differences in the mechanics of these two shifters?
my new x9 feel quite stiff to shift up.
never had trigger shift before so I dont know if this is normal
a cheap set of XX has come up but if they're still stiff then theres no point.

The latest model x-9 shifter had the bushing replaced with a bearing, same as the XX, so theoretically the shifting mechanism should be nigh identical (whether the xx bearing is a higher quality is not really relevant in this application). I have a mix of x-9/x-0 on my Scale, go through all the regular diagnostics of worn/dry cable/ cable routing etc. If none of these things are readily apparent, replacing the cable is a good option.

thank you, this is a new bike so all should be well.

however I've only ever had grip shift so this might be normal - I just thought it would take a little less pressure/effort to change up (I little slicker)

Lol...go in the middle with X0. I was in the same boat...but with X9 and X0. The X0 is physically smaller in size. Its about 10gr heavier than XX.

The lever feel? I didn't find too much difference in the feel. The "click" did feel more positive...but that can just be my perspective. What I did like is being able to adjust the position of the upper thumb lever. The X9 body itself is bigger than the XX and you are not able to adjust the upper shift lever. The aesthetics of the XX is much nicer. XX also has a carbon lever.
