During a minor fall, my MT8 carbon master cylinder cracked. Has anyone else had this issue?
Now I'm considering either replacing the master cylinder or just buying a new set of Formula R1's. I've never seen a brake fail like this before.

Anyone has information about the new MT8?
Magura updated/reworked the MT8 brakes for 2015, but no major change has been made to them since then. (Apart from some new brake levers and pad types + the flat mount caliper.)
UPDATE @ 19.06.2023:
A new cheap brake just announced: https://magura.com/en/EUR/product/mta2
Hm, maybe new models are also in the pipeline?

Or you could get shimano levers and go what's called a "shigura" setup.
If the lever is in good shape, you could crib the master cylinder from almost any Magura brake. Some numbers for the two-piston varieties:
Caliper with pads:
MT2: 135g
MT4/MT8 Pro/MT8 SL/Trail Sport/Trail SL: 104g
Pump:
MT2/MT4/MT8 Pro/Trail Sport: 73g
MT8 SL/Trail SL: 58g
MT2/MT4 is a two-finger lever. MT8/Trail is a one-finger.
The previous version of MT8 had lighter levers and calipers. Stupidly light, the whole set was about 380g (60g lighter than MT8 SL), with probably 40g coming from the calipers. The levers would never fly today, though. Far more flex than the modern stuff and not as smooth.

Thanks for sharing all these info!
I have a brand new Magura MT8 Pro set which has the cool looking shiny calipers. I'm just tuning it up with new HC carbon levers (have these already), Brake lever screws are titanium ones, and I found the following tuning parts (will order them soon):
- https://titaniumplanet.com/de/bremse/95 ... arbe-titan
- https://titaniumplanet.com/de/bremse/11 ... arbe-titan
- https://titaniumplanet.com/de/magura/62 ... andart_5mm
I've had 5 sets of MT8s so far, besides Trickstuff Piccolas these are my favourite brakes so I still have some spare carbon brakelever clamps to make a - more or less - WW ultimate MT8 set.
(I still have a yellow limited edition MT8 Race carbon set with the yellow calipers. A very good and reliable set, no issues for 5+ years.)
I'm sure there's a tuning option to the original Magura brake hose as well, but this needs some further researh to find the best one. Maybe Trickstuff Beta would be a good candidate.
