The video looks very bad... Off-camber roots will make the fork squirm like a worm

Not to that magnitude, but it does demonstrate how flexy it is compared to (almost) anything else comparable.

The feedback seems to be pretty good. Has anybody actually ridden the RS-1?

Lol...the biggest downside I see (besides the price)...is using the proprietary hub to get 100% out of the fork.

Again...what type of riding condition do you twist your bar and fork like that?

I really doubt it. If you come across a situation in a rock garden where it'll cause the fork and bar to twist like that...you can bet you're going to get tossed off your bike.

I remember guys coming into the bike shop doing the same twist test on road bikes.

It's just a comparison, apply x load, it twists y amount.
No one said that it was a realistic load.
Just need to get it next to a comparable fork to see exactly how much difference there is. I would suspect it's not a huge difference in real riding for most people.

Kulhavy is not moaning about his ?
"I could have done this job myself in five minutes, but as things turned out I had to spend two days trying to find out why it had taken someone else three weeks to do it wrong."

I'll preface this by saying I don't intend to buy one, and I think the price is absurd since you could get a carbon lefty for the cost that probably performs better.

However, I'll say that the thing this fork does really well is stay active through fore/aft loads. Though I don't have much experience riding it, the immediate impression is that it's about as torsionally flexy as a sid or a fox. When hitting bumps, especially square-ish ones, the reduction in stiction is noticeable.

I know there's always the argument that riders use what they're told to by sponsors, but the fork seems to be working pretty well for this guy:

Well to be fair he only won because of some exceptional circumstances... :D

Does anyone know what happened to Daniel Federspiel's bike- his freehub broke or something?

That's just what happens in Eliminator. Just like BMX and 4X, luck is often a big part of winning.

Mels also dominated the points this season so it's hardly an 'undeserved' win IMO.

Also, don't quote the post before you, especially when it has pictures!

The spacing is 110mm right: http://r2-bike.com/ROCK-SHOX-Suspension ... d-fork-rs1 and not 120mm? How come R2-bike.com advertises it as 100mm spacing? But it uses the special hub of 110mm spacing: http://r2-bike.com/SRAM-Hub-front-Predi ... nsion-fork.

Isn't Kulhavy using the RS-1 this weekend?
