Maybe a post in the Mountain Bike section would get more results?

On my 29er wheelset I went with 28 spokes (CX-RAY). The rims are so stiff, 32 is overkill on an XC wheelset... unless you are over 200 lbs. I was told as much by Enve.

How much do you weigh? This is the biggest factor when choosing hole count. Like Briscolab said though those rims are ridiculously stiff. Most riders will have no problem going 28/28

Hmm, why not look at the wider AX Lightness 650B clincher rims? The ENVE rims are quite narrow IMO.

I am also looking for a carbon 650b wheelset for my new bike and although I currently have a 29er XC enve wheelset (28f 32r), Im considering Nox AM rims, they are wider than Enve XC and AM rims , weight about the same as Enve AM (410g each), supposedly as stiff as them and they are half the price. They have been getting very good reviews so maybe you could buy them and use the extra cash to get a nicer pair of hubs.
