That's interesting; presumably you could run without the display and use the ANT+ transmitter to display gear data on eg. a Garmin Edge?
Anyone know if Di2 DA/Ultegra/XTR/Alfine are all cross-compatible?
The answer should be yes.
There' s one bike in the net, using Ultegra grope with Alfine display gear;
We have Shimano' s word, on-road and XC Di2 are all cross-compatible.
Shimano' s private-ANT transmitter only can paired with SCIO, Mio 505, Garmin Edge 1000.

I wouldn't have thought it'll be hugely long until it works with the Edge 510/810 or replacements. Probably the most useful thing the ANT+ transmitter does is send battery life...

I heard they are pushing back delivery times until December, can anyone confirm this??
I asked the Shimano tech rep today about XTR Di2 and he was saying that delivery has been pushed to January. You might see a few bikes shipping with it here and there around december, but it won't be available for retail until January.
He also confirmed that the new M9000 race brakes are indeed different than the M987 race brakes. They use the same magnesium caliper, however they now use a new piston that has some sort of carbon coating on it, helping it reduce heat. The levers also have a slimmer clamp than before.
The new XTR mechanical rear derailleur weighed in at 224g as well (~20g lighter than an XX1 we had laying around).
