Fits a standard 9/10 speed MTB freehub. Spaced the same as 11 speed XX1, 11 speed road, 10 speed MTB, etc- they accomodate the extra width by doming the cassette on the side of the biggest sprocket so it sits closer to the spokes if I remember correctly...

Can someone confirm this? I want to use non-XD wheels with 11-40 11-speed XTR on a 1x11 setup with XX1 for training. Thanks!

Thank you. I guess it should. I wanted to ask if shifting won't be a problem.

I guess the concern was whether or not the new xtr 11 derailleur will allow enough space for the 42 tooth cassette, and you are saying it is all good.
That's great, because I would rather use xtr 9000 shifter/derailleur with the sram xx1 cassette.

Yep, no problem. There's really not much of a difference between the 40 vs 42 diameter wise. I have the B screw about halfway in and don't touch it between cassettes and it's flawless.
Yeah, I prefer the XO1 range for training. But when racing I'm supposed to have all Shimano on the bike, and the XTR cassette does shift noticeably smoother.
Fyi some weights
Rear derailleur: 224 g
Cassette: 329 g
Rear Shifter: 103 g - bar clamp version, no cable.

Starbike has 26/36 available for 1-3 day availability, and R-2 looks like singles can be added to your cart so may be in stock possibly.

Thanks for checking, I'll wait until the 38T version comes available and get it from Starbike. Also looks like the 1x11 cranks are some time off too. Wonder what the problem is- perhaps final tweaks to the chainring design? It's possible given the prototypes the pros have been using only months ago look quite different to the official product shots.
