Hi all

I'm looking to build a sub 10kg (22lb) Anthem X 26er. Below are the components I'm looking to put onto the frame. Currently standing at 9.8kg with XT SPD pedals based on claimed weight.

Did not go with XX1 as the difference in claim weight of 70g did not justify the $220 difference in price to me.

Any comments appreciated. Especially on lighter components I can get with similar cost/quality.

I don't know how durable the X01 cassette will be but other than that I think you have a good, solid build there... you could go lighter with more exotic parts, like say a german:a kilo fork, but you'd part with more cash and possibly sacrifice durability.

Looking over the list though you are missing skewers and a seat clamp.

I am sporting relatively similar Anthem X, and here is my take on making it lighter:

Obviously pedals: If you want to stick with SPDs - get the Xpedo XMF08T. I have been running them all year and they have been just superb. They weight 216g!
Crankset: Ditch the spider and SRAM chainring. Get absolute black spiderless chainring. About 100g to be saved there.
Brakes: I would get the lighter Shimano M987 or Formula R1s.
Grips: I use bartape. Current favourite is Cinelli Gel Cork. Weights about 35g.
Housing: Get some FASI aluminium housing or XTR Yumea. Will save about 25g.
Chainstay protector: My Anthem frame came with factory installed copter tape. No need for any chainstay protector.
Tubes: Go tubeless. You can save a bit there - 40g or so, but there are bigger benefits to be had, like lower tyre pressure.

Hope this helps.

If you are not to fat get lighter handlebars, seatpost and grips - this alone can save you around 200 grams with the same performance.

I would get:
New Ultimate EVO wide 700mm flatbar: 118 grams
New Ultimate EVO seatpost: 120 grams
Neopren grips: 15 grams.

Other than that I would make think of getting another frame - newer designs could make you save about 500 grams.

My experience with Conti Supersonic tubes is that they suck. I've had no problems with Maxxis.

Not sure that brake weight includes adaptors so you'll be looking at circa 35g for the rear there unless it's a PM frame?

More actual weights and the real bike weight on a scale built up will most likely tell you you are further from your goal than you think. Not saying it to be a pain but to give you a better idea of your starting points when making comparisons to future potential upgrades throwing weight in to the equation

Hi all! Much thanks for your advices! Made changes to my final shopping lists and the items are on their way. Will post real weight pics once they arrive for future references.

Hi Miceden, Stefan, Mads Kock

Prefer to go with the fit and forget with minimal maintenance possible for now. I am about 85kg kitted. The exotic brands are really enticing, 90g for a 680mm handlebar and 70g lighter for M987s compared to M985s...

BTW Seat clamp part of the frame weight. Fork with maxle included. I forgot rear skewers! Going with some KCNC steel 30g for rear.

Agree based on what I read so far. Going with the Maxxis Ultralight.

Its a PM for rear. Will direct mount the brake calliper.

Totally understand and agree. Much of the weight are actually extracted from bikescale.com and R2-bikes with exception of X01 grouppe which I was not successful in finding real weight pics. Fingers cross for now!

Some changes (read weight addition) after the trail got a little too wet and I had to change to some heavier trail tyres. Hovering at 10.5kg now
