It's been a while since my last update, I've been lucky enough to get some decent miles in during our spells of good weather. Never enough though.

Observations from the first real phase of hard riding: I'm loving the 2.1 tyres, I don't think I could go narrower but I'm very happy with them. The whole bike feels really dialed and tight and super quick, very confidence inspiring. My riding position is racy which suits me perfectly, I feel at home the second I climb aboard. Loving the Crank Brothers Eggbeaters which I was worried about, they're proving to be everything I hoped they would. I've been having some ass issues but I'll get to them later.

The super light Bontrager XXX foam grips have been ditched due to numb fingers and replaced with the vastly more comfortable and grippier (though heavier  ) ESI Racers Edge (is there something wrong with me that I actually feel guilty for adding weight with the grips?). I've not done enough miles to judge them fully yet but they seem great so far.
The rotors were slightly worn but nothing serious, it didn't stop me from replacing them  with a set of Quaxar Iris at 68 grams and 69 grams each. A saving of 73 grams and they look gorgeous too.

The next biggest change has been my biggest boo boo to date, not that there's anything wrong with what I've fitted but it has been a relatively pointless excercise. I got hold of an FSA Afterburner crankset for very little outlay which going by research was a weight saving of 50 to 100 grams. I was way off! In the end it saved me only 9 grams which is just ridiculous. Why bother having a crankset one up in the range using the same rings that weighs practically the same!!?? The arms are hollow as opposed to carved out being the only difference. The Afterburner maybe looks a tiny bit better but I'm slightly annoyed!!

My sore ass is being brought on by my unforgiving saddle which tonight I've slid forward a few mm's to see if that can help, if not then I'm fearing that I'll have to up(down)grade to something with a little more padding. I've also purchased some new more padded shorts so fingers crossed they'll make a difference.

So I'm down to 21.838 lbs (9.906 kg)

I've updated my weights spreadsheet here: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B1RWzs1 ... So you have already surpassed the stated weight of the Boardman EM1-----probably for way less money.

Very nice bike

Thank you, yeah I've just checked that fact you're right. I'm sure you could knock a few pounds off that without spending much but it's price tag is £2,599.99 (ouch!!!) I'm pretty much set now I think, the bike feels great and I'm very happy. In an ideal world the wheelset and forks would drop a pile of weight but I'd have a practically whole new bike then so I'll only replace when worn now.
Can you get Boardmans In Canada?

Not sure really---- but buying them from Wiggle would be easy enough and probably cheaper too.

Not a bad weight at all.....those cranks were a sorry saving, I presume the claimed reduction was mostly in the rings then!
Impoverished weight weenie wanna-be!

I think FSA simply lied or misprinted the weights on their website, the double ring BB30 should be up there with the lightest version of the Afterburner but it was nowhere near. I was suspicious about it to be honest but hey ho, 9 grams is 9 grams LOL.
