What should I do when the sealant in my tyres is life-expired and has stopped sealing? Keep topping it up (and adding weight), or un-mount the tyre and clean out the old stuff before putting new sealant in?

I use home brew sealant that lasts about twice as long as Stan's which in my case means I can go 6 months. Twice a year, I change all my sealant and clean the tires on the inside. Takes about a half hour per tire, but you always have good sealant and you don't build up lots of residue (weight) on your tires. I recommend Spring and Fall, because doing it in the Winter would suck. This is all my opinion as some guys just top off every 3 months or so and after a year and a half clean the tire out.

I think that I'm using the same recipe or a similar variant. At least, I'm using the one from the extremely long thread on MTBR.

Wade's Secret Sauce:
1 part Latex Mold Builder
1 part Slime
1 part RV Antifreeze
2 parts Water

It works like a charm.
