I posted about this on MTBR as well but to be honest y'all are probably better judges on weight. I know the Rip is not considered a light bike but I don't want a fatty.

I am looking at buying a Rip but I am weary about the weight. The guy selling it says it comes in at 25.9 pounds. The build list is:

Frame: Ninre RIP 9 and shock - 3390 grams

Fork: Rock Shox Reba Team 120mm Travel - 1610 grams

Stem: Thomson Elite 100mm - 160 grams

Seatpost: Thomson Elite - 263 grams

Bar: Salsa Pro Moto Carbon - 140 grams

Saddle: Fizik Aliante - 248 grams

Brakes: NEW Avid Elixir 1 Hydralic Disc - 830 grams

Crankset: FSA Afterburner 40/27T 175L - 776 grams

Cassette: Shimano M760 11-36T - 264 grams

Front Derailleur: Shimano XT - 183 grams

Rear Derailleur: Sram X-9 - 230 grams

Shifters: Sram X-9 3x9 Speed Grip Shift - 480 grams

Wheelset: Mavic CrossMax - 1745 grams

Tires: Specialized Fast Trak Control 29x2.0 - 1084 grams

I would say I am being conservative but this comes out to 11403 grams or a little over 25 pounds. I know things such as brake discs and cables add up but what am I missing when I see almost every other Rip hovering around 28 to 30?

Either that cassette is 11-32 or something like that, or it's heavier than the weight you list. A current-gen (10-speed) XT 11-35 cassette weighs around 337 g (http://brimages.bikeboardmedia.netdna-c ... ight02.jpg).

that was just a weight I found on mtbr as an estimate. Realistically what would this bike weigh?
