Can't say I am a fan of the E-type mech so what are alternative mechs?

Seat tube is around 39.0 mm and 3 rings up front.

Anyone know why Scott chose to fit the E-type mech - for example the CF tube too weak to take a clamp on mech?

Scott seem to like E-type, not the best but they do work, alternatively get a machine shop to make you up a 39mm clamp and then use a bolt on.

Or if you can find an old Sachs Top-pull Braze-on FD and a light 39mm carbon clamp and tune it with dremel and aluminum bolts, you can go sub-100g.

Here's are related topic:

.... back to this - sram xx is shown as 38.9 mm clamp (high clamp - needs to be in order to clear the non-round section of seat tube) - i measure seat tube to be 39.0 mm so will tht fit without damage to the tube?

xx is 2 ring - will it work with 3 ring set - (22-44)

or maybe direct mount with custom clamp - anyone come across something like that?

hmmm, i wonder how difficult it would be to make something like this: (assuming it is not available in 39 mm dia)

or use a carbon seat clamp - anyone tried bending theseto fit a seat tube?

I'm running the carboncycles carbon seat clamp with a custom bracket and Sram Road front mech, on a 2010 Scott scale 35. It took a bit off playing around and test fitting to get the right amount of clamp force on the seat tube and bracket but it works fine for me. I lubed up the seat tube to install the clamp because it has to stretch a long way to slide on but there were no cracking noises. Can't find the weights at the moment but its light. my main reason was i wanted to run a double ring chainset, and couldn't find a decent light solution.
will try to post a picture.
