Does anyone know of a disc brake cover like they use in motocross to protect the discs from mud...and pads wearing out?

I haven't seen any for bicycles.
Why do you want one? Have you had issues getting debris in your calipers, or are you just trying to do some preventative maintenance?

Doing a 4 hour event at (Thetford) at the weekend by 2 hours in the brakes were gone completely. It happened to nearly everyone as it was so wet and the soil sandy/gritty. This is not the first time I have raced there and had this issue.

Are you running a metallic pad? This could be contributing to the lack of braking. If you go with an organic option, it should help to increase the stopping power in those sketchy conditions.

Organic pads get wrecked in no time in muddy/gritty/sandy conditions - which it sounds like is what happened here, he wants to run sintered.

If a guard is sealed enough to stop muck getting in, the brakes overheat, it's not like your racing in a roostertail from a bike in front like MXers are!

It wasn't stopping power, the pads were down to the bare metal. I did a quick survey of what people were running and the compound didn't seem to make any difference. It doesn't happen every muddy ride just in this particular region because of the soil make up.

Well, organic pads definitely wear more quickly than sintered, but the modulation on an organic pad is consistently better.

Yes but his pads wore out, sintered last upto 4 times longer in mucky conditions....

Running a more open disc like Ashima or Alligator help as well by letting the much out the interface.

Are the pads not retracting fully? Make sure to use silicone lube for the pistons once in a while... I had the same problem.

Pace Cycles (remember them?) are supposed to have "Dalby Proof" sintered pads for a whole bunch of brakes:
