The title says it all.
I need a new Chainset for a 1x10 build.
I don't want to go too ott/expensive so hollowgram, lighting are out.
What would you suggest ? New or used.

My first reaction was Sram X9 or X0 with an MRP spiderless ring.

94 grams for the 36t. Sounds fine but I'm not sure I like the idea of proprietary chainrings.
My current 3 bolt fsa got me into this grief and I think I'd like to go with a standard 4 bolt arrangement.

I've been very happy with my sworks cranks. Stiff. Stiff. Stiff. They have a removable spider, so you can run an integrated ring which is the way to go. Still pricey, but about half the price of a hollowgram. Less if you get homebrew components to make the chainring.
Sram's cranks are decent. I would go with an X9 or X7 in a triple config. Skip the X0. The XX cranks are very stiff and durable, but expensive, and have proprietary BCDs
The e13 cranks seem to be pretty nice and sought after by people wanting no-fuss 1by setups. I think it could be basically bb30 native with the right spacers, but you would need ask them.

As BB30 seems to have a horrendous reliability reputation I'd be inclined to get some adapors and run something that will last more than 4 weeks.
Impoverished weight weenie wanna-be!

Not at all, I find them much better than external bbs.
It really depends how you fit them and what brand you use.
Anyway, I've purchased a new Chainset so the bb will be replaced with a new ceramic bb. I'll see how long this lasts over the winter.

OK, well I've seen a lot of reports of them lasting less than 6 weeks.
In terms of the bearings themselves of course they are no different to a correctly fitted external BB!

I decided the deals from CRC were too good to pass up so I went for this as my new BB30 Chainset.
I'll run this with a single 36T ring - probably a Renthal, not the lightest but bombproof and last well.
PS - the cranks aren't touching the counter top
