hey guys

I have some sram XX brakes wich are not that powerful and squeal like mad whatever im doing to solve the problem. I am thinking of switching to formula R1 brakes. Do you guys know what is the main difference between the R1 racing, r1 (glossy black) and r1 ltd edetion (matte black)?

From what I read, the r1 racing are 270g, the ltd edition are 277g and can be tuned to reduce weight and the r1 are 298g. The r1 limited edition are appealing, could I tune them to bring the weight down to the r1 racing weight? What are the changes you can make on the r1 ltd edition? Can you add a carbon lever?

thanks a bunch

The racing version can be tuned to be even lighter. I feel you shouldn't have to tune the most expensive version, it should already be tuned to the max.

It looks like the difference between the ltd edition and racing version is the ltd edition is equipee with the tool free reach adjustment on the lever and with the pad contact adjustment barrel on the brake line on the mc. I wonder if those 2 festures can be removed to shave weight.

I cant find many information on these ltd edition. Crc has them in stock.

it appears the limited edition im talking about is the 2011 r1 version.

can anyone tell me if the reach adjustment and pad contact barrel can be removed for weight saving? If anyone has the weight would be nice too

here is the model: http://www.singletracks.com/blog/wp-con ... 08/r11.jpg

I'm wondering if anyone can compare the older R1 version to new 2013 version?

New version is supposed to have the ''Enhanced Caliper Technology (ECT)'' feature. Does this really mean more room between the pads and rotor?

Main reason being I will now use the brakes with rotors that are 2mm thick, and there is barely any space to eliminate rubbing with 1.8mm rotors now on the older version.

I would hope newer Formula R1's could have more pad clearance as the ones I have drive me nuts! Enough to swap to XTR...
