I think the OP mentioned their budget was $2k. The Tallboy is going to be more than that.

I agree with the Tallboy. Yeah it is a bit out of your price range, but saving your $$ for an extra season or two will allow you to get top notch quality control, a good warranty, and most importantly a bike that is extremely versatile. I have been riding mine every day for the past 2 seasons. I love it because it also happens to be the only XXL option!

if you really want to buy a 29er mtb bike, don't care that extra money, above 2k or 2k no difference, buy one because you love it above all

IMO if youre looking for a new bike, 29er and 2k is your budget, i'd go for a hardtail.
i'm 100% sold on full suspension, 95% sold on 29er, but 2k is a gray area where the hardtails are pretty good but the full suspension bikes have huge, heavy compromises to make the budget work. heavier frame, sometimes lower-end rear shock, much heavier wheels, probably not tubeless, cheaper, flimsier components. and with 29ers, youre starting from a weight disadvantage as it is. nothing spruces up the feel of a 29er like some light, lively wheels (and tires)...

What about the new Tallboy aluminum? That would be well within your price range.
