I was wondering if it would work to use a new 10 speed sram road derailleur with a 9 speed XO gripshift. I will be using a compatible cassette. I know that they use the same actuation ratio but was wondering if the cable pull was different. Any experience?

nope. use a new 10v gripshit and a 10v cassette and it will work though.
