I used to run a nearly identical setup - Fire rear/Ignitor front. I switched to a Nevegal rear and Conti Explorer up front. For me, the Nevegal just proved to be a better all around climber than the Fire XC. It also didn't pack up nearly as much as the Fires. The Explorer and Ignitor appear to have nearly identical tread patterns, but the Explorer holds better in corners. That said, it's still not great for dry/hardpack conditions.

Can you still get Conti Explorers & Verticals. We can't get them in the UK anymore. What happened to Conti - Mountain Kings are rubbish in any conditions, and who's gonna' buy Rubber Queens ? What were they thinking of ?

If you're looking at Maxxis, how about the Aspen?
